A family effort that grew into a mission.
The Makana Foundation exists to ensure that no family is left behind when it comes to safety, nourishment, and dignity at home. Based in Belleville, Michigan, we are a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to providing nourishing meals and essential home repairs for individuals and families facing hardship.
We were born in the wake of COVID-19, when we witnessed firsthand how many families in our community were struggling to access basic necessities. What began as a small family effort to share what we had quickly grew into a mission of its own.
We believe that a secure home and a full plate are more than basic needs. They are the foundation of hope. Through community partnerships, donor support, and hands-on service, we step in where help is needed most.
Every meal shared and every home restored brings us closer to our mission. Whether it's rebuilding a damaged space or delivering a warm meal, we meet people with compassion, respect, and practical action.
